Coming from a family packed with college professors, I’d always assumed this was my path as well. Starting as an adjunct professor gave me some free time to work a few hours a week at a new, local startup. Always imagining my future career tied to a large educational institution, I never imagined a job in small business. I was surprised to quickly fall in love with my “side gig,” and it was an easy decision not to renew my college contracts to pursue this full time. The best part of my job with that initial startup was my bookkeeping tasks. I continue to love working with smaller businesses for their financial needs!
